FAQ

Frequently asked questions from our landlord partners

Are refugees trustworthy tenants?

Refugees are among the most highly-vetted, thoroughly-vouched-for tenants in the United States. Refugees pass extensive background checks, interviews, and international and federal validation rounds to be able to enter the United States.

What support do refugees receive?

Refugees have access to more support than traditional tenants, like government programs, organizational support, and volunteer groups. These organizations help make sure that refugee families can get on their feet and be independent — employed, fully paying their rent, etc. — after they get to the United States.

Can refugees pay market rate?

Resettlement agencies in the United States strive to set up leases at fair market rate. The goal is always that at the end of a 12-month lease, you have received 12 months of rent at a rate you mutually agree is fair. Sometimes, this may be in a different structure (such as a larger up-front payment to secure a more affordable monthly rate), but the goal is always to pay you a fair rate for your units over the course of the lease.

Can I choose to list below market rate?

We do not expect that you will lower your asking rate as part of listing on ReHome Marketplace. However, our process allows for it if you very graciously choose to do so.
